Danbury, Connecticut

The city of Danbury, CT can be found in Fairfield County Connecticut, right at the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, just northeast of New York City. Danbury was founded in 1684 and has kept loyal to many of the traditions of New England. While they hold fast to their history and culture, they also have the technology to entice corporate growth in some of the Fortune 500 companies.

On April 19, 1889, the city of Danbury was incorporated. They developed a city seal that displayed images of their past like the railway that was created in 1852 and a group of elm trees to represent Elmwood Park. The water on the lower portion of their seal is representative of the flooding that caused the dam at the Kohanza Reservoir to break in 1869 and the derby hat in the upper right hand side of the seal represents the ever growing manufacturing industry that can be found there. The final piece displayed on the shield is the Wooster Monument.
