A Little About the City of Allen, TX

The township of Allen was laid out by the Houston and Texas Central in 1872 and named for its co-founder, Ebenezer Allen. This landlocked city is hours from the nearest ocean but boasts several small ponds scattered throughout.

Education—Allen Independent School District has 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 1 freshman center and 1 high school. Students can easily make the transition from high school to community college as the high school features on-site campus for Collin County Community College. Other public school options are available in surrounding Lovejoy and Plano school districts. Though Collin County is the only college in the area, there are 5 more colleges in the immediate area, including the University of Texas at Dallas.
