How it all works.
For New Jersey energy – a portion of
your gas or electric bill concerning the supply of that energy source is
separated from the delivery portion of your energy bill. This has opened the
door for competition amongst suppliers of the energy source allowing the
consumer to shop for the best price. This does not affect the delivery of the
energy source, the gas or electricity will still be delivered by the same wires,
poles and pipes. The distributor will also be the company that responds to any
emergency or issues regarding the energy source. The decision to buy from a
different supplier other than the utility company is simply an economic choice
and does have any impact on the safety or reliability of your energy services.
