Yes, big things are popular in Texas. But while Corpus Christi isn’t big size-wise, it’s big in interesting things to do. So much so that our researchers decided to look beyond Padre Island National Seashore for other great attractions. Here’s what we found:
5 – Bridge of oohs and ahhs and maybe even some sighs. Normally a bridge isn’t a prime attraction. But the Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge isn’t your normal bridge. More than 10,000 LEDs along the bridge provide a spectacular light show – red, green, and blue most nights but you-know-what on July 4.
4 – Flamingo fun. We love flamingos – isn’t it obvious – and the Texas State Aquarium is where you’ll find them, as part of its Jungle Exhibit. Plus check out sharks, dolphins, and more – even vampire bats.
3 – A lesson in freedom. The USS Lexington Museum offers education about naval aviation. The aircraft carrier was converted into a museum in 1992 and offers tours, interactive theater, flight simulators, and more.
2 – Visita esto. The Selena Museum is a memorial to the Queen of Tejano Music, killed in her prime by a fan. The museum displays exhibits dedicated to her career as a singer, songwriter, model, actress, and fashion designer.
And the No. 1 thing to do in Corpus Christi … pile into your woodie and catch the wave headed to the Texas Surf Museum. Yep, surfing isn’t just a California thing, as any #TexasCool wave rider can tell you.
