Residential and small business natural gas customers who do not sign up with an independent energy provider will receive a Basic Generation Service. The price for Basic Generation Service will be the same no matter which zone you live in.

The rate for Basic Generation Service is your “Price to Compare.” You can use it as a comparison tool to help you decide if you can save money by choosing another supplier. If another supplier’s price per kilowatt hour is lower than the “Price to Compare,” you can save the difference per kilowatt hour by switching to that supplier. Ameren customers can browse energy plans to see if any suppliers are offering lower rates and to find the plan that's right for you.
