Did you know that you can save on your utility bill with Atlanta Gas by switching energy suppliers?
Atlanta Gas Light Company is the largest natural gas supplier in the southeastern United States. AGL delivers energy to over 1.5 million residential and commercial customers across the state of Georgia. Their service area includes the cities of Athens, Atlanta, Augusta, Macon, and Savannah.
Atlanta Gas Light natural gas rates
Atlanta Gas Light Company no longer sells natural gas, though it continues to provide delivery service. All customers in the AGL service area must purchase their natural gas from a natural gas marketer. Those who, for whatever reason, do not purchase from a natural gas marketer will receive service from SCANA Energy, the “provider of last resort,” or default utility, designated by the Georgia Public Service Commission. See the natural gas plans available to those in the Atlanta Gas Light service area. As the regulated provider of last resort, SCANA Energy offers two pricing plans. The first is a variable rate plan where the natural gas price changes according to market conditions. This plan is available to all customers. The second is a 12-month fixed-rate plan that’s available only to low-income customers. Under this plan, the natural gas rate at the time you sign up will determine the price you will be charged per month.
Atlanta Gas Light “Pass Through Charge”
Whether you receive gas from SCANA or another natural gas marketer, Atlanta Gas Light will still deliver the energy to your home or business. As a result, AGL charges you to help pay for the upkeep and maintenance of all the necessary infrastructure. These charges are regulated by the Georgia Public Service Commission and are “passed through” to you at cost, with no additional markup.
