National Grid (Keyspan Long Island) natural gas rates
Residential and commercial customers that do not sign up with an independent natural gas supplier, will receive a default variable rate plan from National Grid. The rates for this plan change monthly based on changes in the energy markets. You can find those rates below.
The rates you’ll be charged under the “default” plan are approved by your state’s public utility commission. However, customers on the “default” plan will likely pay a higher and more volatile rate for energy than those who shop around for an energy plan.
National Grid customers can easily check out natural gas suppliers and plans to see if there's a better plan for them.
National Grid (Keyspan Long Island) "Price to Compare"
This rate is your “Price to Compare.” You can use it to make an apples-to-apples comparison between the “default” plan offered by your utility and those offered by energy suppliers. If another supplier’s price per kilowatt is lower than the “Price to Compare,” you can save the difference by switching.
These rates include only the cost of producing the electricity. There are additional costs for delivering the energy, which will remain the same whether you sign up with an energy supplier or not.
