If you don’t sign up with an energy supplier of your choice, your current utility will continue to provide you “default” energy service at a rate approved by your state’s public utility commission. If possible, you should avoid the “default” energy service, since you will likely pay a higher rate than you would with an independent energy supplier. Toledo Edison customers can check out energy suppliers and shop for electricity plans to find the one that’s right for them.
This rate is your “Price to Compare.” You can use them as a comparison tool to help you decide if you can save money by choosing another supplier. If another supplier’s price per kilowatt hour is lower than the “Price to Compare,” you can save the difference per kilowatt hour by switching to that supplier. These rates include only the cost of producing the electricity, not the cost of delivering the electricity to you. The delivery costs will remain the same no matter who supplies your electricity.
