Washington Gas Light natural gas rates
Residential and commercial customers that do not sign up with an independent natural gas supplier, will receive a default variable rate plan from Washington Gas. The rates for this plan change quarterly based on changes in the energy markets. Typically, the default variable will be higher and less predictable than what you can find if you shop around.
Washington Gas & Light customers can shop around for natural gas plans and browse energy suppliers working in their area.
Washington Gas Light "Price to Compare"
This rate is your “Price to Compare.” You can use it to make an apples-to-apples comparison between the “default” plan offered by your utility and those offered by energy suppliers. If another supplier’s price per therm is lower than the “Price to Compare,” you can save the difference by switching. These rates include only the cost of producing the electricity. There are additional costs for delivering the energy, which will remain the same whether you sign up with an energy supplier or not. To report a hazard or a gas leak, you should contact Washington Gas' customer service line at the number listed above.
