About Ohio Edison
Ohio Edison is a subsidiary of First Energy Corp. It is the electric utility for more than one million customers in northeast and north central Ohio, including the cities of Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown.
Its parent company, FirstEnergy Corp., is headquartered in Akron, Ohio. In addition to Ohio Edison, FirstEnergy owns nine other electric utilities and serves more than six million customers across the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York.
Ohio Edison got its start during the Great Depression in 1930. It was formed through the consolidation of many smaller electric utilities. It became a subsidiary of FirstEnergy in 1997, when Ohio Edison merged with Centerior Energy Corp.
A subsidiary of First Energy, Ohio Edison delivers electricity to over one million customers in northern and central Ohio. Its service area includes the counties of Ashland, Champaign, Clark, Cuyahoga, Delaware, Erie, Franklin, Knox, Miami, Union, and Wayne.
