OhmConnect

OhmConnect is an electricity supplier operating in California, Texas, and New York. Originally founded in California in 2013, the supplier entered the Texas deregulated market in 2022. 

OhmConnect differs from other energy suppliers primarily because of its energy-savings app and rewards program. Customers can connect their smart devices, like thermostats or smart plugs, to the app and receive alerts when energy demand is high. When energy demand spikes (which often happens on weeknights), OhmConnect customers can earn cash-back rewards and prizes for lowering their energy usage.

• Energy-saving rewards: OhmConnect will notify you (through email or text) when energy demand is high. If you reduce your energy consumption for at least an hour, you’ll receive credit towards your next bill. You can also earn cash rewards, enter to win prizes, or receive smart home technology in OhmConnect’s rewards marketplace.
• Refer a friend program: If you refer someone to OhmConnect and they sign up for a plan, you can receive between $20 and $50, depending on how many referrals you make. You can participate in the referral program even if you don’t live in OhmConnect’s service area. As long as your referral signs up for a plan with OhmConnect, you’ll receive the referral bonus.
• Cancellation fees: Like other energy suppliers, OhmConnect charges a cancellation fee if you end your contract before it expires. The ETF amount depends on the length of your contract.

OhmConnect currently operates in three states: California, New York, and Texas. In the Texas energy market, this supplier offers deregulated electricity plans. In California and New York, OhmConnect’s services revolve around helping residents save on energy costs during times of high demand.

Read the EFL. Before making a final decision on a plan, check its EFL. For each plan, you’ll learn:

• The price per kWh based on how much electricity you use
• How much of the plan’s energy comes from renewable sources
• The plan’s contract length and ETF

Enjoy hands-off setup. Once your plan is confirmed, OhmConnect will finalize the process with your utility for you. There won’t be any disruption of service during the switch.

Understand your electricity bill. Your bill will contain charges from OhmConnect for the amount of electricity you use and from your utility for delivering it to your home. Your utility also maintains the power lines and restores outages. If your power goes out, contact your utility company (not your provider).
