Gexa Energy is one of the leading energy providers in Texas, especially for customers looking for green energy plans. It is also a popular energy provider on the Choose Energy Marketplace and meets our strict selection criteria. Choose Energy only works with trusted providers, making sure they are reliable, offer a variety of plans, and provide good customer service.
Types of rates offered by Gexa Energy
Gexa Energy offers two different types of energy plans: fixed- and variable-rate.
- Fixed-rate plans: With this type of plan, your electricity rate will be secured for the duration of your contract. Gexa’s fixed-rate plans come in 12-, 24-, and 36-month term lengths. We recommend a fixed-rate plan for customers who prefer to have a stable and predictable energy bill.
- Variable-rate plans: Having a variable-rate plan means your rate will vary month to month based on changes in the energy market. In months of lower demand, your rate will likely be less than a similar fixed-rate plan; on the other hand, your rate will spike as demand increases. These plans are best for customers who need the flexibility to change their plan at any time, such as renters.
No-deposit options from Gexa Energy
Although Gexa Energy does not offer no-deposit electricity plans and prepaid plans, it may waive the deposit if you qualify. This is usually based on the customer’s credit score.
Green energy with Gexa Energy
Green energy plans use clean energy sources such as solar power. All Gexa Energy plans are 100% green energy at no additional cost. Its parent company, NextEra Energy Resources, is the largest generator of renewable power in the world.
Moving or transferring service with Gexa Energy
If you are moving to an area that Gexa Energy services, it is easy to transfer your service to a new address. If your new home is in an area not serviced by Gexa Energy, you can disconnect your service without an early termination fee (ETF) and switch energy providers.
Renting with Gexa Energy
Gexa Energy offers some plans that are designed for people that only plan to use an energy provider for a short time. These variable-rate plans have no fees for ending a contract early. You can also look for Gexa Energy plans with term lengths that match your rental agreement.
Cancellation fees
There is no fee for canceling a variable-rate plan, but Gexa Energy charges a $150 cancellation fee for 12-month plans and $295 on 24-month plans. However, if you are moving outside the Gexa Energy service area, it waives the ETF.
Satisfaction guarantee
Gexa Energy offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee to new customers. It will waive the ETF if you are not completely satisfied with your service.
