Express Energy is one of the top energy providers in Texas’s deregulated market. Choose Energy only partners with trusted energy providers, so you can rest assured that the plans you find have been vetted. The criteria we use when selecting providers include reliability, plan variety, affordability, and customer service. Express Energy meets our criteria in each of these important areas, which is why we’re happy to include them in the Choose Energy marketplace.
Types of rates offered by Express Energy
Express Energy offers a variety of fixed-rate plans, which you can find on Choose Energy. Here’s a look at how these differ from variable-rate plans:
- Fixed-rate plan: A fixed-rate plan is ideal for customers who value security and protection from rate spikes in the energy market. You have a contract for a set period, meaning your rate won’t change. These plans include early termination fees (ETF).
- Variable-rate plan: A variable-rate plan can be better for those who want more flexibility. You aren’t locked into a contract, so you won’t have to pay any ETFs — but your rate can fluctuate regularly. Currently, Express Energy doesn’t offer any variable-rate plans.
Enter your ZIP code to discover the types of energy plans currently available from electricity companies near you from Express Energy and other providers.
No-deposit options from Express Energy
Like most other electricity companies, Express Energy usually requires a deposit before service begins. Customers who have certain credit scores or meet other criteria may be exempt from paying a deposit. While Express Energy does not offer a specific no-deposit plan, there are several available on the Choose Energy marketplace. Enter your ZIP code to explore no-deposit and prepaid options in your area.
Green energy with Express Energy
Each Texas energy plan is powered by a percentage of green energy, including wind and solar energy sources. You can find out exactly how much in each plan’s Electricity Facts Label (EFL). Express Energy’s standard plans use 6% renewable energy, but you can upgrade to 100% green energy during enrollment.
Moving or transferring service with Express Energy
If you’re moving to a new address, you can easily transfer your Express Energy plan to your new home. Simply submit a request through your online account or call 844-361-2080 to set up your service transfer. If Express Energy does not offer service in your new area and you need to switch to a different provider, you can do so without paying an ETF. Additionally, if you’re moving into Express Energy’s service area and want to sign up for a new plan, enter your new ZIP code to browse Express Energy rates and plans available for your new home.
Renting with Express Energy
Even renters can take advantage of Express Energy’s affordable electricity plans. While some Express Energy plans require you to enter into a longer-term contract, there are also short-term, 12-month plans for those unsure how long they’ll be in their current home. You can also explore variable-rate plans from other providers on Choose Energy.
Cancellation fees
Most providers that offer fixed-rate energy plans also require ETFs if you cancel your service before your contract ends. The fee depends on the provider and the type of plan you have. Longer-term energy plans tend to have higher fees. Express Energy’s cancellation fee is based on how early you cancel — you’ll pay $20 per month remaining on your plan.
Satisfaction guarantee
Express Energy offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for its energy plans. If you’re unhappy with your plan, you can cancel within 30 days of activation to avoid paying an ETF.
