Customers have several TXU Energy plans to choose from, with a variety of rates and terms. The following are some of the options customers will find on the Choose Energy marketplace.
Smart Edge 12: With this 12-month fixed-rate plan, you can get a Smart Savings bill credit of $30 for each billing cycle when you use more than 800 kWh. We recommend this plan if you consistently use 800 kWh or more a month. Because the $30 savings doesn’t apply to usage less than 800 kWh, we do not recommend this plan to customers with lower energy consumption.
Flex Rewards: This variable-rate plan allows you to pay month-to-month and receive 3 percent cashback with loyalty rewards. More information about the 3 percent cashback reward is available in the plan’s EFL. As you are not locked into a specified term, there are no early cancellation fees, but your usage rate can vary from month to month. This is a great option for customers who do not want a contract.
Free Nights & Solar Days 12 (8 p.m.): This 12-month fixed-rate plan uses 100 percent renewable energy. TXU Energy purchases solar energy and solar renewable energy credits each month equal to the full amount of your usage during the day, between 5:00 a.m. and 7:59 p.m., and wind renewable energy credits equal to your usage at night, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:59 a.m. Customers receive a 100% discount on all energy charges and TDU delivery charges during night hours. We recommend this plan to customers who spend more time at home during the evenings as opposed to the day, such as families with children in school or those with day jobs.
Smart Deal 12: This fixed-rate plan has a contract starting at 12 months. You can receive a Smart Savings bill credit of $30 each billing cycle if your usage exceeds 1,200 kWh. The energy charge is the least expensive for customers who use between 1,201 and 2,000 kWh, so we recommend this plan if your monthly usage consistently falls within this range.
Solar Club 12: In this 12-month fixed-rate plan, TXU Energy purchases solar energy and renewable energy credits each month for up to 500 kWh of usage. This is the monthly amount of electricity used during the day by the average Texas home, meaning your daytime electricity usage would be powered by solar energy and your nighttime usage would be powered by other sources (not necessarily renewable). Pricing for this plan is almost equal at all usage levels, so we recommend this plan for all customers.
TXU Energy charges $150 if you cancel your 12-month plan early. For 24-month plans, the early termination fee is $295 and for 36-month plans, the fee is $395. If renewable energy is important to you, take a look at each TXU Energy plan since renewable content varies from plan to plan.
