Pollution Free™ e-Plus 36 plan

This plan provides power sourced from 100 percent wind energy for 36 months. The Pollution Free™ plan requires you enroll in Tree Free billing and Auto Pay within 30 days of your service beginning.

Pollution Free™ All Nighter 12 plan

With this 12-month plan, your home is powered by 100 percent wind energy and you will receive free electricity between the hours of 8 pm and 6 am. This is a fixed rate plan, so the rate you pay will remain the same for the duration of your contract.

Go Solar 12 plan

The Go Solar 12 plan is powered by 100 percent solar energy at a fixed rate for 12 months. If you enroll in this plan, Green Mountain Energy will also donate to the Green Mountain solar fund, which pays for sustainable solutions, projects, and programs.

SolarSPARC™ 10% 12 plan

With this plan, your home will be powered by 10 percent solar energy and 90 percent wind energy. Every month, Green Mountain Energy will donate $4 per customer to support local sustainability initiatives and projects. Additionally, customers will receive an annual bill credit that increases every year they are enrolled.

Texas electricity rates FAQ

What types of energy plans are available?

There are several plan types and rate structures you’ll encounter when searching for a plan. The most common options are fixed rate and variable rate plans.

  • Fixed rate. With a fixed rate plan, the rate you pay for electricity will stay the same throughout your contract and will not change based on fluctuations in the energy market.
  • Variable rate. With a variable rate plan, your rate will change based on the market. This means you could pay a lower rate when demand is low but may be hit with a higher price when the energy supply is low.

Do you run a credit check?

Yes. Credit checks are a normal part of the energy buying process. Most providers require a credit check before they will offer you service. If you wish to avoid a credit check, a prepaid electricity plan might be the best option, although the rates may be more expensive.

Will I have to pay a deposit?

Possibly. Providers may require a deposit based on your credit score. If you pass the credit threshold set by a provider, you may not need to pay a deposit. When you select a plan, we’ll let you know if a deposit is required to begin service. If you’re searching for a no-deposit option, prepaid plans are a popular choice. What if I am moving?

If you are planning to move, you can choose to remain with your current provider or switch to a new provider with no early termination fee. If you decide to switch, you can shop for a new provider up to 90 days before you move. Most homes have smart meters installed, meaning you won’t need to arrange a technician visit. What do I do if I want to switch providers?

Switching to a different provider is easier than it may seem. However, if you have a fixed rate plan, it’s important to be aware of your early termination fee. Variable plans typically allow customers to switch at any time without an extra cost. If your plan is about to end, you can switch to a new provider up to 14 days before the contract expires without early termination fees. For more information, see our guide to switching.
