UI "Price to Compare"

Customers who have not chosen their own electricity supplier will receive a default electricity plan from UI. The rate for the “default” service is approved by your state’s public utility commissions. This rate is your “Price to Compare.” The Price to Compare can help you figure out how much you’ll save by switching from the utility’s plan to one offered by an independent energy supplier. If the supplier’s rates beat the utility’s “Price to Compare,” you can save the difference per kilowatt hour by switching to that supplier. Typically, the “Price to Compare” is higher than the rate you’d find with a plan from an independent energy supplier, so it always pays to shop around.

Those in the UI service area can check out the electricity plans available in their area to find the plan that’s right for them. These rates include only the cost of producing the electricity. There are additional costs for the delivery of the electricity to your home or business. The delivery costs will remain the same no matter who supplies your energy.
