Naperville energy deregulation
Illinois first passed energy deregulation in 1997. Most consumers remained with ComEd until around 2010. At that point, competition across the state began intensifying, and consumers found themselves in a position to choose from a number of attractive deals.
In 2012, Naperville city officials agreed to negotiate an aggregation deal, which resulted in cheaper energy prices in Naperville. Consumers have enjoyed large savings on their energy bills as energy deregulation in Naperville has taken hold.
Naperville utility companies & energy providers
Deregulation means that utilities handle the distribution of electricity, while energy providers go out and purchase the electricity that the utility then delivers. This set up allows energy providers to offer deals to consumers without any disruption to the infrastructure. Essentially, every consumer can switch to a different energy provider if they like, but they won’t need any adjustment to their building if they do so.
The Naperville wires company is Commonwealth Edison Co., which continues serving all energy consumers in the area. In terms of Naperville power companies, Choose Energy has partnered with Champion Energy Services, Spark Energy, and Reliant Energy, all of which offer exceptional service and value.
