About Evolve Energy
Based in Houston, Evolve Energy is a wholesale electricity provider in Texas that promises customers great rates based on wholesale prices. Evolve Energy offers perks for the right customer, including no contract, pay-as-you-go “plans” and renewable energy.
Evolve Energy also uses technology to serve its customers. It can track usage and send you reports. The downside is that wholesale rates change frequently, meaning it’ll be hard to predict what your electricity bill will be from month-to-month.

Evolve Energy plans
One of the nice things about Evolve Energy is that there is only one plan. This means you don’t have to navigate through tons of different plans that you’d have at a regular REP. That process could leave you feeling overwhelmed and wondering whether you got the best deal for your usage.
All you have to do is pay $10 a month, plus the wholesale cost of the electricity that you use. Remember, this plan has no contracts and no termination fees.
Evolve Energy reviews
Evolve Energy is a relatively new company, so the BBB does not currently have reviews available. However, it’s worth searching for general wholesale electricity reviews to get an understanding of the wholesale market and the risks it involves.

Texas energy plan FAQs
What happens if I move? In Texas, if you move before your contract ends, you will not be charged an early termination fee. You will have to provide proof of your new address. You can still stay with your current provider if it offers service in your new location. Or you can switch to a new supplier. Our movers page has more information.
What is a fixed-rate plan? A fixed-rate plan gives you the option to lock-in your plan’s electricity rates, which won’t change regardless of whether or not the cost of energy changes. With a fixed-rate plan, you’ll know what your energy rates will be on a month-to-month basis, so you have a better handle on your expenses. Your bill will vary according to your usage.
What is a variable-rate plan? Different from a fixed-rate plan, a variable plan is ideal for someone who wants rates based on the wholesale price of electricity. Rates can change dramatically month-to-month with this type of plan.
Who do I call if there’s an outage? Due to your power to choose, you are not locked into one provider when it comes to choosing your plans. But, that’s not necessarily who you contact in the case of a power outage. Utility companies, also known as TDSPs (Transfer and Distribution Service Providers) are in charge of power infrastructure and should be the ones contacted if you experience a power outage. Report to the utility company in your service area.
A few things to remember
Don’t forget to read your plan’s Electricity Facts Label before signing up. It contains important information including:
- Price per kilowatt-hour based on usage
- % renewable energy sourcing
- Early termination fees
Enjoy hassle-free supplier setup. Once your order has been confirmed, your new supplier will set up service with your utility. There shouldn’t be any interruption to your power during the switch.
Understanding your electricity bill. Your local TDSP will still deliver your electricity and maintain electric infrastructure including meters and power lines. Your utility fees can be found as TDU or TDSP charges on your monthly bill. They are independent of your supplier rate.
