A few things to remember
In Texas, most residential and commercial electricity customers can choose their energy provider. Signing up for an electricity plan is easy through the Choose Energy marketplace. After selecting an electricity plan and confirming your order, your energy provider will finish the setup process with your utility or transmission and distribution service provider (TDSP). You should not experience any interruption in your service when switching electricity suppliers.
Understand your electricity plan details by carefully reading the Electricity Fact Label (EFL); you’ll find important information such as:
- Price per kilowatt-hour (kWh) based on consumption
- The percentage of electricity from renewable sources
- Early termination fees
It’s important to understand your power bills to make informed decision about your energy usage and energy conservation and cost-saving opportunities. Your bill will include charges from Flagship Power for the electricity you use and your utility transmission fees. Your utility company is responsible for maintaining power lines and restoring outages. Contact your utility company, not your provider, if you experience a power outage.
