Everything you need to know about APG&E

APG&E is one of many trusted electricity providers featured on the Choose Energy marketplace. We select our partners based on several factors, including plan variety, service reliability, and customer service.

Because APG&E is strong in these areas, we’re happy to feature the company among our trusted providers. Call our energy experts today to learn more about which of APG&E’s offerings may work for you.

Types of rates offered by APG&E

APG&E specializes in fixed-rate energy plans with contracts of six to 36 months. These plans offer long-term stability, with rates that stay locked for the duration of your contract. If you cancel your plan before the term expires, you’ll pay an early termination fee (ETF) of $150–$350.

Enter your ZIP code to explore APG&E plans and compare available electricity options in your area.

No-deposit options from APG&E

Most electricity providers require a deposit before you can begin service, unless you have strong credit. While some companies offer prepaid options for customers with low credit scores, APG&E doesn’t offer these types of no-deposit plans. For APG&E to waive your deposit, you must be 65 or older, medically indigent, or a victim of domestic violence.

Enter your ZIP code and filter by prepaid plans to explore no-deposit electricity from other providers.

Green energy with APG&E

While every Texas energy plan features some renewable energy, APG&E offers several options for customers who want to make an environmental impact with their energy choices. Many of its plans are available with 100% green energy from solar energy or wind power sources for just a few cents more per kilowatt-hour (kWh). Find the specific percentage of renewable energy on any plan by reviewing its Electricity Facts Label (EFL).

To explore fully green plans on our marketplace, enter your ZIP code and select the “green energy” filter.

Moving or transferring service with APG&E

When you move to a new address in Texas, you may be able to transfer your APG&E plan to your new home if you’re still within the provider’s service area. Reach out to APG&E before your move to ask if you can bring your plan with you. If you’re relocating outside the company’s service area, you can switch to a new provider without paying an ETF. Explore cheap electricity options on the Choose Energy marketplace.

Cancellation fees

APG&E cancellation fees start at $150 for six-month plans and reach as high as $350 for 36-month plans. You’ll have to pay these ETFs if you cancel before your plan ends, unless you move out of the company’s service area.

APG&E business electricity

APG&E doesn’t serve only residential energy customers. The provider also offers small business and commercial electricity plans in many of its service areas. Check out our business energy page or call our experts to learn more about customized energy solutions for your business.

Other APG&E initiatives

APG&E also makes efforts to go above and beyond for its customers and local community. Several of the company’s initiatives include:

  • Utility bill assistance: APG&E provides payment resources to help customers struggling to keep up with their energy bills.

APG&E plans

Customers can choose from a variety of APG&E plans. The following section displays several of the company’s popular offerings, which you can find by entering your ZIP code on the Choose Energy marketplace.

APG&E Simple Choice 6

This short-term plan is a great option for renters who need straightforward, clear rates and 100% renewable energy. There’s no base charge or usage fees, and your rate is fixed for 6 months. If you cancel early, you’ll pay a $150 ETF.

APG&E Simple Choice 24

Like the Simple Choice 6 plan, this plan has a fixed APG&E electricity rate with no base charge and a $150 ETF. With this plan, though, your rate is fixed for 24 months. The Simple Choice 24 is not a 100% green-energy plan.

APG&E Simple Saver 16

APG&E’s Simple Saver plans are an excellent option for customers who regularly use more than 1,000 kWh per month. When you pass that threshold, you’ll receive a $100 bill credit to bring down your rate. The Simple Saver 16 is available in all utility service areas and includes 100% renewable energy. You’ll pay a $250 ETF if you terminate your contract before the 16-month period ends.

APG&E service areas

APG&E offers its plans in many parts of the states where it operates. In Texas, you’ll find APG&E plans in all of the following service areas:

Tips for best electricity plans

With Choose Energy, it’s easy to compare electricity companies near you and start or switch to a new plan. Once you sign up, your new provider will handle everything to get you up and running.

A few things to remember

Review your plan. Before signing up for any electricity plan, be sure to review your plan details closely. Your Electricity Facts Label (EFL) includes important information like your rate per kWh, percentage of renewable energy, and potential ETFs.

Let your provider handle setup. After you sign up for a new plan, APG&E will coordinate with your utility to transfer or establish your service.

Review your bill. Your bill will include your APG&E rate plus any utility distribution charges. Remember, your utility is responsible for maintaining the electrical infrastructure. Contact the local utility company if you experience a power outage.

How shopping for electricity works

Deregulated markets allow consumers to choose their energy plans from a full marketplace of providers rather than a single utility company. This system can help you lower your energy costs, but many consumers may find the number of choices overwhelming.

That’s where Choose Energy comes in. Enter your ZIP code, and we’ll help you sort out the best electricity plan options in your area. You can filter your results by provider, rate type, green energy, contract length, and more. We’ll guide you through the entire process of comparing plans and choosing your provider.

Tips to lower your electricity bill

If you want a straightforward way to reduce energy costs, your best bet is to lower your monthly energy usage. Practices like regular home and HVAC maintenance can go a long way, and upgrading to energy-efficient appliances can make a big dent in your energy consumption.
