Why choose Gexa Energy

Gexa Energy provides plans for Texas residents sourced entirely from green energy. Some plans also include monthly bill credits that can help lower your costs when you use a certain amount of electricity.

Gexa Energy offerings include:

  • Fixed-rate (long-term) and variable-rate (month-to-month) plans
  • Plans that offer discounted electric vehicle (EV) charging periods
  • Plans that offer bill credits if you use a certain amount of energy per month

Everything you need to know about Gexa Energy

Gexa Energy is one of the leading energy providers in Texas, especially for green energy. It’s also a popular energy provider on the Choose Energy marketplace and meets our strict criteria. We review each partner to confirm they are reliable, offer a variety of plans, and provide excellent customer service.

Types of rates offered by Gexa Energy

Gexa Energy offers two types of energy plans: fixed-rate and variable-rate. Here’s how these electricity plan types work.

  • Fixed-rate plans: Your rate will remain the same throughout your contract. Gexa’s fixed-rate plans range from 12–36 month terms. We recommend a fixed-rate plan for customers who prefer to have a stable and predictable energy bill.
  • Variable-rate plans: A variable-rate plan means your Gexa Energy rate will fluctuate monthly based on changes in the energy market. When demand is lower, your rate will likely decrease. However, your rate may also spike if demand increases. These plans are best for consumers who need the flexibility to switch their electricity anytime.

No-deposit options from Gexa Energy

Although Gexa Energy does not offer no-deposit electricity or prepaid plans, you can waive the initial deposit if you qualify. Your eligibility is determined based on your credit score.

Tips for best electricity plans

The Choose Energy marketplace makes switching to a new electricity plan easy. You can sign up online or over the phone, and your new provider will take care of the details — without interrupting your service.

A few things to remember

Learn about your plan. Read the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) before making a final decision. For each plan, you’ll learn:

  • Price per kWh based on how much electricity you use
  • Contract length, if applicable
  • Delivery fees from your utility company
  • How much of the plan’s energy comes from renewable sources
  • The plan’s early termination fees, if applicable

Enjoy hands-off setup. Once you choose your plan, Gexa Energy will complete the setup with your utility or transmission and distribution service provider (TDSP). Additionally, there will be no service disruption when you change providers.

Understand your electricity bill. Your bill will contain charges from Gexa Energy for the electricity you use and from your utility or TDSP for delivering it to your home. The TDSP also maintains power lines and restores outages. If there is a power outage near you, contact your utility company.
