Since its founding in 1911, Dayton Power & Light has been serving the residents of the Miami Valley. Currently, the utility delivers electricity to over 515,000 homes and business in its 6,000 square mile service area, which includes Dayton, Springfield, Hamilton, and Middletown.
Dayton Power & Light electric rates
If you haven’t chosen an independent electricity supplier, you will receive a “Standard Offer” plan through Dayton Power & Light by default. The rate for the “Standard Offer” service is approved by your state’s public utility commissions. However, that rate is typically higher than what you can find if you shop around with independent suppliers working in the Dayton Power & Light service area.
Dayton Power & Light "Price to Compare"
This rate is your “Price to Compare.” The Price to Compare can help you figure out how much you'll save by switching from the "Standard Offer" to a plan from an independent energy supplier. If the supplier's rates beat the utility's "Price to Compare," you can save the difference per kilowatt hour by switching to that supplier. These rates include only the cost of producing the electricity, not the cost of delivering the electricity to you. The delivery costs will remain the same no matter who supplies your electricity.
