Cypress energy deregulation

Until Texas deregulated its electric services in January 2002, only one utility company serviced each area. The state controlled rates, and the system was flawed in that it made it impossible for customers to access better electricity rates. Deregulation changed that and created competition among suppliers.

That’s good news for Cypress residents! Deregulation means that energy consumers have the power to choose among a number of different suppliers from which to purchase electricity.

In Cypress, CenterPoint is the utility. It’s responsible for transmitting and distributing your electricity. No matter which company you choose as your electricity provider, CenterPoint will be your utility. You’ll also alert the company if you experience an outage or notice infrastructure issues.

The Choose Energy marketplace offers a number of options: different types of plans and rates, different term lengths, and no-deposit electricity plans, among others. It also helps show you how to move your electricity services or switch providers

Cypress renewable energy

No other state comes close to the Lone Star State in wind power generation, of which Texas produces nearly 30 percent of the country’s entire supply. It also ranks well in solar generation. In short, Texas is a true U.S. leader in renewable energy.

Cypress, too, is invested in green initiatives and is home to the trailhead of the Cypress Creek Greenway Project, a large initiative that, in time, intends to link major anchor parks along Cypress Creek.

Choose Energy partners with Cypress’s renewable energy suppliers, making it easier for residents to switch to a renewable. Every Texas plan includes a percentage of renewable energy, but some providers only offer green plans. Those include Green Mountain Energy, Chariot Energy, and Iberdrola.
